"The last day of Block 1 and sure enough, the last thing being shot today is the start of 701."

"You will believe that a horse can fly... in a plane, that is. :)"

"Not often a picture vehicle causes such a stir on set. But a Lamborghini Escalade?!? Mnnnn"

"The first of fifteen days filming 703 and 704 and unlike last block we are starting with the very first scene of an episode."

"Heartland has its first female 2nd Assistant Director on set. Welcome to Heartland, Daniella. :)"

"Things are easy for the props department when the scene description has something missing, for if it's missing, it isn't needed, is it?"

"Time passes on a television series, and Keira and Jordan, who play Katie, are sure growing up. Time for more than just being a bay-bee. :)"

"Another day tomorrow, including the return of a character from Heartland's past. More on this development then. :)"

"Kung Fu - The Legend Continues" Memories - Michael Sloan

Michael Sloan is the president of this year`s jury at the Monte Carlo Film Festival. On June 9th an interview with him was published. One question was what production he is most proud of. Here is his answer:
Michael Sloan

Sloan: “I loved writing and producing Kung
Fu: The Legend Continues with the late
David Carradine. It was a challenging show,
to mix the metaphysical and spiritual
elements of the Kwai Chang Caine
character with the dramatic and thriller
elements of a cop show.

There was some fantasy in the show,
contrasted with gritty reality. The scripts
were very diversified and had a lot of
action, humor and evocative themes in
them. Some of them were love letters to
great movies like The Magnificent Seven,
The Great Escape Key Largo, all within the
Kung Fu dramatic guidelines.

David Carradine was great to work with, as
was Chris Potter, who played his cop son in
the show. I was able to create 50 + auxiliary
characters around the two main leads,
who ran through the entire series, which
gave the show a sense of reality. The series
created a large and very loyal fan base and
some of the more uplifting ideas in the
series resonated with a great many people.”

"Only 4 scenes today - all filmed in a beautiful location further away from where Heartland usually films outdoor scenes."

"6 actors in scenes today and all of them require stunt doubles, keeping stunt coordinator Tom Eirikson busy."

"We had 3 cameras capturing the action today. More footage makes it easier for continuity when Jane edits it all together."

"What is this, a road show? Each of today's nine scenes takes place on a road or on the highway!"

"Mutton, mutton every where,
And all of them did bleat;
Mutton, mutton every where,
Yes, Heartland still has sheep.
(Apologies to Coleridge)"

"Did I mention that @Malloryland is back? Yes, Jessica Amlee is indeed in most of today's scenes."

"Filming the last seven scenes of episode 704 finishes today's work. The scenes total just 1 minute, but it is going to be a powerful minute."

"Background performers (extras) are busy in Calgary between the 3 productions being filmed here; 25 were needed on Heartland today."

"Stills wiz Andrew Bako is on set today. This man has shot tens of thousands of photos while on set."

Great News about the Charity Golf Tournament Chris attended on June 17th:

Big Swing Golf Tournament Raises Over $100,000 for the Actors’ Fund of Canada

June 19th, 2013, Toronto… Monday June 17th marked the 17th annual Big Swing Golf Tournament, held this year at Milton Ontario’s Royal Ontario Golf Club. With a matchless blue sky overhead, players enjoyed a day of golf that was enhanced by the knowledge that the tournament supports a charity they care about. Between sponsorships, raffle tickets and the silent auction, a staggering $100,000 was raised in support of the Actors’ Fund of Canada.

The tournament saw many returning sponsors increase their level of support. NABET 700 in particular, went above and beyond, contributing $10,000 in recognition of the work the Fund does assisting members of the entertainment industry who find themselves in crisis situations. By supporting the Fund during periods of prosperity, organizations ensure that the Fund will continue to be strong, vital and ready to support their members and employees during more difficult periods.

The tournament has always been an opportunity for those working in film and television to spend a day together and get to know people working in other areas of the industry. Producers, suppliers, labour leaders and long-time members of major industry unions and guilds all took part, enjoying a day on the greens followed by a banquet lunch. The afternoon ceremonies were hosted by Jeffrey Knight and included a raffle and silent auction for a fabulous selection of prizes donated by local businesses. The outstanding fundraising success would not have been possible without the efforts of the peerless Golf Committee, chaired by Actors’ Fund of Canada President Maria Topalovich. The Hon. Sarmite Bulte, P.C., Phil Flagler, Judah Katz, Wendy Moss and Mimi Wolch all put a tremendous amount of work into securing sponsorships, soliciting prize donations and ensuring that a great time was had by all. As the event’s co-presenter, the Directors Guild of Canada Ontario District Council (DGC Ontario) was on hand to present DGC Ontario’s annual $25,000 contribution to the Actors’ Fund. DGC Ontario past chair and current Executive Board member Don McCutcheon spoke about DGC Ontario’s ongoing support for the Fund, commending it for the work it does in the service of entertainment industry professionals, including members of DGC. The Actors’ Fund of Canada is a registered charity that provides short-term financial aid to entertainment industry professionals working in theatre, film & TV, music and dance. The Actors’ Fund is not just for actors: performers, creators, technical staff and other production team members can apply for help from the Fund which delivered over $400,000 in rent payments, grocery money, utility payments and other basic living expenses to clients in the last year and has helped over 10,000 entertainment industry members since it was founded in 1958. The Actors’ Fund of Canada was the recipient of the 2011 Gemini Special Award for exceptional service to the Canadian television industry. - See more at: http://www.actorsfund.ca/archives/3965#sthash.tJAbhFWC.dpuf
