Season 6 was wrapped on December 5th 2012. So here is my last entry about Production Tweets for this year. Hopefully I can continue next year when they shoot Season 7 :)

"It is day 13 of this 15 day block filming 617 and 618, but really it is day 132 of this 134 Season 6 shooting schedule."

"Last week we were saying farewell to filming locations. Now we are finishing up with specific sets. So long living room and dining room!"

"Here we are, starting the penultimate production day of Season 6. (That's next-to-last: look it up!)"

"One last day of production and then Season 6 will have wrapped. More tomorrow, but not TOO much in the way of spoilers. :)"

"The final day of production for season 6 has begun; 4 scenes from each of 617 and 618."

"One final scene in the house (in the hallway/nursery) and then mothball the ranch house sets until 2013 (we hope!)"

"THAT's A WRAP Everyone! Season 6 is done. Drinks and relaxing nearby afterwards."

Heartland Television show features Stirlings ranch horse Rocket

This is an article about Als Dun Driftin aka Rocket , Tim Fleming`s horse (with no name) on Heartland :)

Enjoy :)

"The top-watched television drama in Canada is a show called Heartland. It's a family program that has been on air for five seasons and can be seen on U.S. stations as well. The main character is a teenage girl who has a special touch with troubled horses. As such, the show is chock-full of Quarter Horses to play all the parts.

Set in Alberta, it has gorgeous scenery besides all the pretty horses. One of those fair cast members has South Dakota roots...."

The palomino gelding that the show's father rides is Als Dun Driftin, raised by the Allen Stirling family. The 11-year-old gelding was sired by Stirling's stallion Magnum Drifter, out of a mare their daughter Angie used in high school rodeo for pole bending and occasionally barrels.

Allen and Fran Stirling, Newell, SD, along with their grown kids Angie, Casey, Lane and TR, use their horses for every task on the ranch. During his years with the Stirlings, the palomino gelding they called Rocket did it all. Whether it was tagging calves or doctoring a cow in the pasture, he was able to do the job. When hauled to the rodeo arena, Rocket was used in team roping, picked up broncs, and carried flags. Nothing ever shook him and he was a solid using horse at every job.

It's no wonder that Rocket was such a good all-around individual. His genetics equipped him to be. By a solid, working stud and out of a mare of proven ability, it would follow that he would be the same.

"He was from Magnum's first foal crop. He was always friendly and in your hind pocket right from the get-go," Allen Stirling said. "We had four full brothers and sisters and one half-brother out of that mare. Angie still has one of the full sisters."

The bloodlines behind Rocket reads as a "who's who" of South Dakota performance horses. Magnum Drifter was sired by Chuck and Mary Crago's Taylor Jess Tivio and out of a daughter of Cowan's Sun Frost and out of a Cowan mare who was Orphan Drift and Poco Speedy bred.

On the maternal side of Rocket, his dam Miss Dun Salute is by Tackadial and out of a Classy Son (Glen and Nora French horse) mare who was out of a daughter of Sutton's Johnny Salute.

It's hard to find more solid breeding in a horse than Rocket has. That, combined with the education that the Stirlings offered, made for a top ranch horse. People in the horse business have to rotate older horses to keep young stock coming in. When Rocket was six, he was offered for sale and ended up going to Canada to carry flags at the Calgary Stampede. That was the new owner's plan anyway.

When a casting call went out for a solid, gentle, broke horse to carry the actor in Heartland, Rocket was a good choice. The wrangler for the series knew that Rocket had plenty of ranch experience, and was ready to do try this new job. So Rocket went from his ranch and rodeo life to the relatively cushy "star" gig that he's doing now.

Stirling chuckled, "It's kind of neat to watch him on TV. I'm just waiting to see that big Bar A Bar on his hip!"

"First there was the injured colt out at old Stumpy’s place. It was a great plot move to have Jack and Georgie stay home so that Amy and Ty could be alone (much to Tim’s dismay)."

"Jack would be a great guardian for Georgie - it was a total bummer that his interview went so poorly. Maybe it would’ve gone better if Tim hadn’t tried to help."

Quote: "[Georgie's] like one of the hired hands. Where else can a kid have an amazing experience like that?” – Tim to Clint

Thanks Kyle for sharing and thanks Lisa for reminding me that I have not posted this yet :)

"In February of 1997, I was the president of the Official Silk Stalkings Fan Club, and Stu Segall Productions invited me to the set for the last day of filming and season 6 wrap party. Here is a recap of my adventure.

This was originally posted almost 14 years ago on my now defunct The Stalker On-Line web site. I thought it would make an interesting feature for No(R)eruns.net, so I cleaned it up and added a lot of never-before-seen exclusive behind-the scenes footage I shot while on the set."

Behind the scenes of "The Hunt"

A Heartland Christmas - Boy From The Woods

2012 in review

Once again it is time for my annual review of the past year and a look into what is ahead of us in 2013.

In January Season 5 of "Heartland" continued with some really amazing episodes. We saw Tim struggling after he was no longer allowed to see his son Shane. Kudos to Chris for some great performances and his directing in episodes 513 and 514. In my opinion 517 "True Calling“ is one of the best "Heartland" episodes ever.

2012 in review (1)

February brought us the news that Chris had joined Erin Montgomery as her co-Host on the "CHES 88.1 Morning show". Thanks you two for many hours of fun and laughter. If you - like me - are a fan of Erin now as well, you can listen to her again in January on The Mix 88.1 where she will host the morning show from 6-10 am.

In February we also got "A Warrior`s Heart“ on DVD. I really like the movie and I am very happy it was finally released after being announced for almost 4 years.

Two months later, in April the long anticipated Season 6 of "Heartland" was announced. I think you were able to hear the huge sigh of relief all through the fandom.
Filming started in May 2012 for another 18 episodes of watching the Fleming- Bartlett- Morris family clan going through the Ups and Downs of life in the Canadian foothills.
Thanks to Heartland`s Director of Photography Craig Wrobleski we were able to follow the events on set via the daily photo updates on his site.

BeFunky_VintageColors_2h

In July filming for two new parts of the "Good Witch" started in Hamilton, Ontario. For the first time Chris was also listed as a producer.
And "Heartland" won the "Best Drama Social TV Award“ in Los Angeles. Congrats again to everyone involved and an Extra Shout-Out to my fellow Beta Testers of the Heartland Ranch Game. You guys rock!

September was the month to take us back to the "Heartland" ranch with the premiere of Season 6. Many fans think Tim is - compared to the previous seasons - very enjoyable this year. Let´s see if it stays that way when "Heartland" returns with a brand-new episode on January 6th 2013.

2012 in review (2)

In October the fifth part of the Good Witch movie series "The Good Witch`s Charm“ premiered on Hallmark Channel as the 2nd highest-rated Original movie of the year. The viewers were introcued to Jake and Cassie`s newborn daughter Grace and Jake`s mother-in-law played by Janet-Laine Green who was Annie Blaisdell, Peter Caine`s foster mom on "Kung Fu – The Legend Continues“.

BeFunky_VintageColors_2d

As mentioned before Part 6"The Good Witch`s Destiny“ was filmed back to back with Part 5 and will premiere in October 2013.
Chris was also back in the Director´s Chair on Heartland for episodes 613 and 614. Amber Marshall aka Amy Fleming shared this picture on her Facebook site. Thanks Amber!

2012 in review

In early December Chris did a new short film called "The Hunt“ which is announed to be released in Spring 2013. It`s all about monsters (as you can see in the picture) and was directed by Spencer Estabrooks.

BeFunky_VintageColors_2

Chris also attended some events in 2012 like the Heartland vs. Hell on Wheels Charity Softball game in Calgary or the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto on November 4th. Let me quote a fan who attended the signing "I really like how he was real personable with the fans, especially the younger ones.“

BeFunky_VintageColors_2fBeFunky_VintageColors_2e

Thank You Chris for another amazing year. Enjoy your well-deserved break with family and friends and have a peaceful and fun-filled Holiday Season.

To a healthy and happy 2013!

Val
